Winter....
Morillon, Samoëns, Sixt and Les Carroz all link at the Plateau
des Saix with Flaine to form the Grand Massif. Superb snowsure area,
the Grand Massif holds the record as one of the top areas in the
French Alps due to the closeness of Mont Blanc and its many north
facing slopes. Thanks to the latest in artificial snow making equipment
(128 snow canons) this guarantees that the resorts remains open
from December through to Easter. There are 265km of downhill skiing
of all levels and a vast amount of specially marked trails for cross-country
skiing, snowshoeing and walkers. Also, up the mountains alongside
the pistes there are further specialised tracks to explore. Snowboarders
are kept happy with state of the art terrain parks, which are operational
in the three areas of Morillon, Samoëns and Flaine. Three exceptional
runs not to miss are the "Marvel", a fabulous 5km long
beginners slope, the "Combe de Gers", a steep black run
for the most daring with a difference in altitude of 800m and the
easy 14km long blue "Cascade" piste, which runs from the
top of Les Grands Platières in Flaine down to the village
of Sixt. The après ski atmosphere is relaxed and friendly
with plenty of traditional Savoyard bars and restaurants. "
Summer....
In summer, Chalet Esprit's unique flexibility enables us to offer
you a bespoke experience where we aim to tailor your holiday to
your specific wishes, whether self catered, B&B or fully catered.
We can do as much or as little as you may want; we can pre-book
activities and suggest itineraries, drive you around and assist
you or you may wish to discover the surroundings at your own pace.
Normally known for its snow capped peaks, the mountains come alive
with flowers and transpire into a tranquil haven for all with only
the distant ringing of cow bells to remind you where you are when
you drift off.
The whole area is a paradise for holiday makers, with marked trails
for walkers and climbers of every length and difficulty. Horse riding
along Le Vallée Giffre is available and nearby lakes and
rivers offer superb fishing or you can simply sunbathe and swim
which is a great for relaxation. For the more adventurous there
are numerous mountain bike trails varying from the steeper downhill
to the more gentle flatter routes through the valley up to the waterfall
at Sixt Fer à Cheval. White water rafting and canoeing through
the gorges and down the rapids of the River Giffre and Drance is
also available, but if you fancy something completely different
then try parapenting - a more tranquil way to view the mountains."
