Summer in the Alps

Fabulous Alpine Resorts in the Summer!

There are many beautiful areas to stay in the Alps and some resorts are better suited to summer holidays than others. We have personally visited many of these resorts in summer and can recommend the places listed below.  We can book a range of accommodation for you in these resorts including hotels, chalets and apartments.  If you cannot see what you want here please contact us and we will do our best to find you your ideal summer holiday in the Alps.

Enjoy a host of exhilarating activities among beautiful mountain scenery including miles of mountain bike routes, white-water rafting, tennis, summer skiing, golf, horse-riding, swimming in the fabulous turquoise lakes, admiring the alpine flora and fauna, or simply walking in the fresh mountain air for a true sense of well-being!

Leave the crowded beaches behind this year for the fresh air and tranquility of the Alps!

Chamonix – Les Houches

This is the world capital of mountaineering with the dramatic Mont Blanc towering above. Chamonix is lively all year round and is classed as an area of outstanding natural beauty and a ideal location to spend your summer in the Alps. A great hotel to stay in whilst you explore the area is Hotel du Bois in Les Houches or in central Chamonix try Park Hotel Suisse.

We also have some lovely chalets available here including the lovely La Forge, Valhalla, Les Tissourds and Eco Farm.

Or for stunning smaller apartments we can offer and recommend Eco Loft or Eco Jardin.

Tignes – Val d’Isere

If you need to warm up your ski legs for the winter season why not try summer skiing on the Grande Motte glacier. Alternatively, you have the breathtaking mountains all around with the ‘Isere’ river running along the roadside and the Solaise in front of you. A summer sports paradise including white water rafting. We can offer a private apartment in the Hameau du Borsat Residence

Les Gets

This is a pretty village in the Portes du Soleil area, not far from the beautiful lake at Geneva. There is plenty to do in the summer here, from hiking to mountain biking and there is also a stunning golf course in Les Gets. We recommend Altitude Lodge as an excellent base to stay as well as Hotel Christiania and for a touch of luxury La Ferme de Moudon

Alpe d’Huez

Sunshine and dramatic scenery make this a popular summer alpine destination and the host of adventure activities is also a great attraction. Hiking, biking, horse riding and even ice-skating are available here. La Maison or Le Manoir are lovely places to stay in Alpe d’Huez for summer or winter.

Meribel/La Tania

You can combine ‘adrenalin’ activities such a parapenting, Via Ferrata and white water rafting, with more relaxing golf, alpine walks and archery in the Meribel/La Tania area of the 3 Valleys. Some ski lifts are open to take you to the mountain summits to enjoy the magnificent views. A variety of accommodation such as Jardins d’Hiver apartment and Chalet Le Yeti and Chalet Sardonnere to full board hotels are available in Meribel and Chalet Champetre in Meribel Les Allues is a delightful self-catered chalet suitable for a large family/friends group. An ideal chalet in La Tania would be Chalet Juliette.

Along with the various mountain based activities on offer there are also great leisure facilities in Morzine including outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, indoor ice-rink and high rope parks – plenty to keep all of the family occupied. Hotel Le Petit Dru is a lovely family run hotel in a good location in Morzine and we can also offer an 18th century renovated Farmhouse la Desmeuniere on a self catered basis.  Chalet Ice is offered for the months of June July and August – a super property we can highly recommend.  A new addition to our programme is stunning Chalet de l’Ange in Montriond near Morzine which is available on a self catered basis for the summer.  It sleeps up to 14 in 7 ensuite bedrooms and enjoys a sunken hot-tub and spectacular views.

Zermatt is a truly year round resort and travelers from all over the world visit Zermatt  across the seasons. Summer skiing in Zermatt is quite an experience. There are, depending upon the snow and weather conditions, up to 20km of skiable slopes under the Matterhorn. There are various hotels available including the lovely Hotel Butterfly. For a super self catered apartment take a look at Haus Alpine.

Samoens & Grand Massif Area

Samoens is a delightful, traditional family friendly alpine village just an hour from Geneva airport. A variety of mountain activities are available here and Samoens hosts an excellent open street market once a week. For a large group we recommend Chalet Teresa with its own outdoor swimming pool.  In nearby Morillon you can stay in the stunning Chalet Esprit which even has it’s own cinema.

We have many other resorts and accommodation for your summer in the Alps – please contact us if you want further information on a specific resort and we will do our best to find what you are looking for.
